Guy Levy's colorful painting is in dialogue with the history of Western art as well as the local one, Rubin's art included. This locality with its orientalistic themes, however, is adapted by Levy and brought up-to-date. The figures and the content in his work look back knowingly and with awareness. In the process his lucid focused observation transforms into an expressionistic, colorful whirlpool.

"My point of departure in the painting begins from total lucidity with a sense of control, but soon enough the sharp edges become blurred and thereof a revolution takes over; from premeditated action to one that is uncontrolled and almost beastly".

Guy Levy, born 1988, lives and works in Tel Aviv. A graduate of Shenkar. He was awarded the Young Artist Prize by the Ministry of Culture and Sport in 2019.
